In this episode, presented by Caspar Stalenhoef, you will hear stories told by Stéphanie, Matilda, and Lucy. No matter how old we are, winter still catches us by surprise every year. It can be so cold and dark! In this episode, you will listen to stories of works of art that shine a positive light on things that at first appear dark and desolate. Works of art that let us take a step back as we consider our own lives, and which can suddenly make everything look different.
The Invisible Collection is an art collection of stories in which people talk about their favorite work of art. Mediamatic Amsterdam originally created the project in 2018 to help the visually impaired to imagine works of art based on audio descriptions by art experts. In 2019, Marres developed a new version that opened up to a broadened definition of art. Since then, Marres harvests stories from people of all ages and backgrounds who share their art experiences in audio.
Anyone can listen to the stories of The Invisible Collection regardless of your level of art knowledge. The collected art stories will eventually form an Invisible Museum.
We are always adding new stories about works of art to The Invisible Collection. If you would like to contribute yourself, please take a look at www.marres.org
Music: ‘The Crisper’, ‘Latecomer’, ‘Drizzle’ and ‘Cabernet’ from Blue Dot Sessions.
For this program, Marres collaborates with Cultuurmakers.
