Although women in general live longer than men, they suffer through more years of bad health. They have poorer access to health care, and too often receive incorrect or delayed diagnoses and less effective treatments. This two-part podcast is on the urgent issue of women and health. It is part of Aletta Talks, a series of podcasts organised by the Aletta Jacobs School of Public Health. Women and health is also the topic of an upcoming ‘Aletta Dive: Sex Matters!’ on gender and the making of knowledge, on the 22nd of January.

Rina Knoeff will continue her conversation with historian Karen Hollewand and Brigit Toebes, professor of health law and academic director of the Aletta Jacobs School. On the agenda are the gender data gap, problems with the fundingsystem and an answer on the question of how the law can help in tackling the problem: would it be possible to take the government to court over women's health? Flying in again will be Sieta de Vries and Catharina Hartman, both working at the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG), with their views on the gender data gap and medical research.
