About three weeks ago, I was in Tromso Norway, 350 KM above the Artic Circle. I was there with 13 people with lived experience from the Netherlands. To learn from our Norwegian co-workers. We visited a department for people with a drug addiction.
The visit was memorable, because of the two leaders of this program, Morten and Lars and because of Stian, a man with lived experience, who walked into our room. He started to share his unforgettable story. We were overwhelmed by it.
I asked Stian to record a podcast on his person, his addiction, his family, his loved ones and I went back to visit him the day after. Listen, in wonder, in admiration, for this mans battle against addiction and what he has learned from it. It could be your story too. There is a way out of it. If only you meet the right people.
The Key Moment Podcast is an independent podcast of Rokus Loopik and Harry Gras. Everything about it is being taken care of by us. The music is from Epedemic Sounds, our gear is from Shure and Rode. The mastering of this podcast is done by TimeItem Studio of Pelle Loopik. A special thanks to him, because he had to make this air-conditioning sound in the background disappear.
I edit the podcast with my MacBook and Garageband from Apple. If you would like to support our podcast, send me a line on rokus @icloud.com and I will give you some directions. We hope you will share this podcast episode with your network, your family and your friends. If only it helps one person. It makes it worthwhile to keep on recording these conversations. In case you did not notice, we are in this together. Addiction does not concern one person; it concerns us all. And we have the key to recovery.
Another big thank you to Stian. We wish him all the best, a successful recovery, amidst of this wonderful staff, his buddies and his loved ones. Thanks again for listening and hope to welcome you again at the Key Moment Podcast. And hey, let’s be careful out there.
