Only one man can talk so well about the Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe as Mark Butcher. Founder of Imvelo Safari Lodges in Hwange and living his life in the bush since the late sixtees. Building his first camp Gorges Lodge near Victoria Falls in 1996, Imvelo is now operating 4 safari camps deep down in the Hwange Natonol Park.
Hwange NP is the third biggest park in Africa with the highest density of Elephants. Nearly 50.000 of them roam freely in this massive wildlife area. Walking up close guided by an armed ranger and guide is one of the best adrenaline activities you can experience.
Take a zip from your G&T while taking the Elephant Express from north to south and watch the giraffes crossing the railway. Sometimes lions are blocking the track so come and see for yourself.
A great succes story is bringing back the Southern white Rhino to Hwange after they have been extinct for decades. Imvelo has played a major role in bringing back these Rhino's last June 2022. This wil be the start of a longterm plan to create a safe haven for this particullary specie.
At the end Mark is giving us a small insight of the manmade waterholes of the park. These waterholes are of high importance for the huge numbers of wildlife. Imvelo is maintaining 18 of these waterholes in their part of the park.
